This is an enterprise feature that is currently supported by Anzu Raptor, DJI Mavic 3 Series, and DJI M30 Series.
Even with an enterprise account, this feature needs to be enabled by Aloft Support.
First we need to download the elevation/street files:
The North America mbtile is the largest file involved. You can download it from MapTiler directly here (account required).
Then, we'll need the local elevation files from USGS (account required). The easiest way is to scroll down to "Predefined Area" > Add Shape > Select State > Choose County > and define your county. You can add additional counties if needed, or select the State level and download all associated files.
Load the files onto the RC or using an SD card/USB drive, then add the files in the Air Control app via Main menu > Settings > SmartCam3D.
You can add multiple Terrain regions if you need additional coverage like adjacent counties. Once the files have been imported to the Air Control app, the AR feature is ready to use!
Once connected with the drone, you should see the AR overlay menu next to the automated flight widget. Make sure to enable the SmartCam overlays and Custom Airspace so they will appear.
On the first launch, the overlays may need adjusted to more accurately line up with the surrounding area. This can be accomplished by adjusting the Heading Offset by a few degrees. There are several other settings available to adjust as well.
Street overlays and custom airspace should now be visible on the drone feed. Currently, these layers will get updated when the app is launched. You may need to restart the app if adding layers from the web. We're working to close this gap and make these layers available in real time, along with sharing the projected Lat, Long coordinate from the camera. This currently shows as a red dot on the map, along with the green view shed showing the area the drone is looking at.
Custom Airspace
This is capable of displaying any custom airspace layers you add to the account. You can add pins, lines, polygons, etc., to the map on your account and make this visible to the pilot through the overlays. This can help with event monitoring and highlighting access areas, parking, etc. Just make sure to enable it for the pilots view:
