Missions on Mobile

How to manage missions from the Air Control app?

Updated yesterday

Missions have lots of functionality!

Missions serve as a way to organize related drone activity. This can be specific events, projects, customers, use cases, or even case / CAD numbers. The mission title should be easily recognizable within your organization.

Pilots can add mission areas from mobile to better define their intended flight areas, or make it clear for admins and approvers.

Additional pilots, visual observers, and other participants can be added as well by clicking "Add Operator":

Tags are an important part of keeping missions organized. It also allows for easier filtering and reporting from the web dashboard.

Mission Management (for admins or approvers):

Depending on the pilot's permissions, not everyone may be able to create missions and self-approve. There can be steps that are required to complete from the web browser. Alternateively, pilots may require manual mission approval from an account admin or delegated role like Chief Pilot. Not only can pilots setup and manage their missions from mobile, but admins can also view and approve missions from with the app.

If pilot permissions are not limited, missions can be saved in any status. Planning, Pending, or Requested are typically the status choices if you want to give missions different designations whether you're thinking about flying there, waiting on an FAA approval, or need permission from a manager or flight ops (for enterprise accounts).

Ultimately, missions should be marked Approved before the pilot is ready to fly and log against it.

Filters and Sorting

There are additional mission options available in the app for greater visibility. The level of visibility is determined by the user's role and permissions. For example, Admins can broaden their mission list to view all available mission, and even include those with other statuses than "Approved". By including "Requested" status, for example, it opens up a path for admins and chief pilots to manage mission approvals from the mobile app.
