How does the LAANC system work on the web?

Steps to file LAANC:

  1. Search or Locate desired flight area on the main airspace map, and check advisories.

    1. Note the blue advisory status and the pre-approved LAANC altitude displayed for the area.

  2. Tap LAANC button

  3. Enter desired flight time, adjust request area, altitude, and confirm whether Commercial/Recreational

    1. If you request above the pre-approved LAANC altitude, this will trigger the Further Coordinated LAANC process. More details on Further Coordination can be found here.

  4. Verify Pre-Check Results are eligible for auto-approval.

    1. If you receive a red Pre-Check Failed message on this screen, scroll down for more information. More details on Pre-Check Failed messages can be found here.

  5. On the next and final step, verify that the pilot profile information is correct before clicking Submit. Note, this is where the safety justification text box is displayed on Further Coordinated LAANC requests.

  6. Confirm the request is Authorized prior to flight

    1. You can then duplicate the request if you want to file multiple across several days or for a different pilot.

Once the LAANC authorization shows as "Authorized", you're ready to fly at the filed date and time!
